Hagemeyer Communications launches the NMS convergence generation (CG) 6500C platform in Australia

Announcement posted by Hagemeyer Communications 23 Sep 2003

Hagemeyer Communications, the newly established telecommunications unit of business-to-business (B2B) distribution services group Hagemeyer NV, has announced the availability of the NMS Convergence Generation (CG) 6500C, a high-density PSTN, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) and voice processing platform.

Following on from the recently announced Asia Pacific partnership with NMS Communications, Hagemeyer Communications will market and support the CG6500C in the Australian, New Zealand and South Asian markets.

The CG6500C platform is targeted at in-the-network deployments requiring superior scalability and reliability. It combines up to 16 T1/E1 PSTN trunks with high-density DSP voice processing power and built in IP-capability, making it ideal for cost effective, scalable, high reliability telephony solutions. Combined with industry leading NMS Fusion 4 software, the NMS CG6500C platform allows businesses to quickly build IVR (Interactive Voice Response), fax, speech recognition and VoIP solutions.

Key applications of the CG6500C include:

. IVR and conferencing engines with up to 480 ports per cPCI slot
. VoIP gateways with up to 360 ports per cPCI slot
. IP media servers
. Enhanced services platforms
. Wireless/IP gateways
. VoIP and PSTN telephony testing systems
. High-density voice processing (DSP) resource

The CG6500C platform is designed to specifically address the migration of communications infrastructure to packet technology requiring the availability of high-performance VoIP gateways for infrastructure build-out and IP media platforms for enhanced communications services.

The architecture of the CG6500C series integrates PSTN interfaces, telephony protocols, comprehensive IVR functionality, full-duplex echo cancellation, speech encoding, fax processing, conferencing, Fast Ethernet interfaces and packet protocols into a single-slot package.

Optimized to buffer speech and provide high performance platforms for speech solutions, the CG6500C can reduce the per-channel cost of speech considerably compared to solutions requiring dedicated speech resource boards as no additional speech-related hardware is required.

Notes to Editors
The CG6500C series features dual 10/100Base-T Ethernet interfaces, which can be used either as two independent subnets or in automatic fall-over mode that switches traffic to the alternative interface without interruption of in-progress calls. This feature protects against wire cuts or hub failures.

The platform is supported on Microsoft Windows, Intel Solaris, Sparc Solaris, Red Hat Linux 7.2, and Windows Server 2003.

The platform series is supported by NMS Natural Access development and runtime environment. Natural Access provides a consistent set of APIs that are operating system independent, delivering true application portability. With NMS Natural Access Call Control Service, programmers can quickly develop applications that run on multiple types of telecommunications interfaces by using a single protocol-independent API.

NMS Fusion 4 software provides a common software environment that can be used to create IP telephony gateways, IP-enabled enhanced communications services platforms, and wireless IP telephony gateways.
