Melbourne Entrepreneurs Tracey Atkins and Catherine Lou Announced Recipients of Prized Business Scholarship

Announcement posted by behind closed doors 27 Sep 2017

Two entrepreneurial Melbourne businesswomen, Tracey Atkins, Managing Director Goldeneye Media and Catherine Lou, Director C&L Consulting, have been announced recipients of behind closed doors (BCD) coveted Entrepreneur scholarship providing 12-months of professional development, peer to peer mentoring and networking opportunities.

The BCD Entrepreneurs scholarship awards two Melbourne Entrepreneurs the opportunity to tap into the considerable business acumen of some of the state’s leading businesswomen.

“BCD’s Entrepreneurs scholarship is undoubtedly one of our most highly-valued and successful initiatives,” BCD Founder and Managing Director, Ms Donny Walford, said.

“Scholarship recipients join a national network of highly motivated, inspirational and influential businesswomen where they are exposed to opportunities to develop both personal and professional skills that ultimately contribute to the increased success and sustainability of their business.”

Tracey Atkins had an impressive 20-year career as a broadcast journalist before launching her business that produces spectacular videos to spearhead the sales campaigns for some of the world’s most important and expensive real estate.

With half her work now coming from the US, where she is out competing with the likes of Hollywood filmmakers, Tracey has experienced three years of rapidly increasing demand for Goldeneye’s unique Australian approach to video story telling.

In application for the scholarship Tracey said, “The business is very much on the doorstep of growth, with the rapid uptake for our work in America. I would dearly enjoy having access to mentors and advisors who could assist me in continuing to expand and scale the business in a manner that will not erode the intelligent, passionate style we have created.”

The two recipients will each receive a 12-month fully funded BCD Entrepreneurs membership valued at more than $7,000. Members are placed into a cohort of fellow female business owners/entrepreneurs to meet for three hours, ten times a year, with a highly respected Facilitator and Program Director.

With access to professional development guest speakers and an opportunity to share openly and honestly with their peers, entrepreneur members gain access to wider networks along with exposure and introductions to senior people in business and government.

Catherine Lou is a young entrepreneur with a passion for building relations and opportunities between young Australian entrepreneurs and Chinese markets and potential investors. She has already arranged and led a trade mission into China, develops and runs seminars/courses for SMEs looking to do business in China and provides China strategies. She is the board member of Executive Wealth Circle and was Secretary for the Australia-China Businesswomen’s Association.

In application for the scholarship Catherine said she was looking forward to the opportunity to learn from other businesswomen from different levels and be able to broaden her mind and vision, as well as contribute her entrepreneurial ideas.

She also applied in the anticipation of being inspired through mentors, the Facilitator, fellow members, external speakers and the wider networking circle that BCD membership would provide her access to.

Thanks to an Australian Government Grant, which matched BCDs already substantial scholarship program, some 28 scholarships have been issued in 2017. Businesswomen in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth have joined BCD with fully funded 12-month memberships providing further growth to the increasing national network.
