Three Pillars Of Sustainability That Can Save You
There is nothing worse than waking up in the morning and feeling worse than when you went to bed. That dread of facing a day you know is going to be the same as the one before and the one before that. You really want to wake up with a spring in your step and enthusiasm for what is ahead. The sad reality (stats) so many of us are not thriving in the 9 to 5. We are sick, overweight and tired. It costs you money and it costs your business money.

Where to make changes

The best places to start making changes is looking at how you fuel your body. So many drag themselves into the kitchen only to settle for a coffee and a piece of toast (if your body is lucky) Investing in a good blender and having ONE smoothie a day, in the morning, can change how your day rolls out.

Booby trap your desk with healthy snacks. Instead of making coffee your life blood, replace with water. You may not even get time to stop for lunch, snacking on a packet of chips from the vending machine, is not going to serve you well … and you know it.

Working long hours is also a killer for your health. Sometimes we have to. To meet a deadline or get a project across the line. If you are burning the candle at both ends, then eat something good for you and take the time to get up and move every 30 minutes. It does not have to be much.

Sounds like Groundhog Day

If your day looks like this – up early, no breakfast, working through lunch, eating junk food, not moving much, finishing work at a ridiculous hour, showering in the dark so you do not have to look at your poor unfit flabby body, crawling into your bed to do it all again tomorrow … you are not alone. You one of thousands who are doing the same thing over and over and wondering why the world is crashing around them.

It is time to stop. I know this sounds trite but you only get one life. While you have responsibilities to your family, your work or clients, you also have a responsibility to yourself.

How to sustain yourself

Here are my three pillars of sustainability. These simple steps can stop the world crumbling around you.

1. Mindset – I know everyone talks about mindset; there is a reason they do. It is important to get your head right so you can make changes that make life better for you. If your life is not going the way you planned it, change something. Start a gratitude journal, meditate before going to bed or getting up, commit to a smoothie every morning (join my 14-day Smoothie Challenge http://bit.ly/14daySmoothie or get yourself a health coach to guide you to better habits.

2. Food – You wouldn’t feed your pet the wrong food, you wouldn’t put the wrong fuel in your car and you wouldn’t pour rubbish into the local creek, so why do you eat foods that do not give you sustained energy or improve your health? The best way to make food changes is to clean out your pantry and put the right things in it, or order ready-made meals (Google ‘healthy-ready-made meals’. There are heaps of people making fresh good quality food delivered to the door).

3. Success – it may be time to redefine your definition of success. When Napoleon Hill wrote Think and Grow Rich, he came up with a list of the 12 principles of what defines enduring riches and therefore success. I suggest you have a look at this list. Then put in order what you want your definition of success to be prioritised as.

A little self-care now is your recipe to avoid a future of aches, pains and a disastrous burn out.
