COBIT® 5 and DMM Practices Pathway Tool Provides Impactful Data Management and Governance Connections

Announcement posted by ISACA 17 Oct 2017

The new COBIT 5 and Data Management Maturity (DMM)SM Practices Pathway Tool helps practitioners develop more comprehensive governance programs and improve alignment between the industry-leading frameworks.

The COBIT 5/DMM Practices Pathway Tool works bi-directionally, allowing practitioners to connect individual practices or sets of practices from either framework and harmonise them with other relevant practices. Users will be able to search for content by domain, process or practice.

“The latest development will allow for users of either framework to familiarise themselves with the other in an outline of affinities,” said Melanie Mecca, CMMI Institute’s Director of Data Management Products and Services. “Users of COBIT will get an inside look at data governance, and adherents of DMM will understand how data management aligns with IT governance. This allows you to leverage your existing framework, enhance it and gain additional insights.”

COBIT 5 helps organisations deliver greater value to stakeholders by improving governance while DMM is used to enable successful enterprise data management. With the latest tool, users will easily be able to identify connections between COBIT 5 and DMM, which will allow for better understanding of common practices and touchpoints that exist between the two.

The tool is available in Microsoft Excel, taking advantage of Excel features, such as sorting and filtering, making it easier to sift through data. Users should be aware that a basic experience of either COBIT 5 or DMM will be required to fully leverage the pathway. The complimentary tool is available here for download.
