WA Housing Market Strengthened By Job Figures And Rising Sales Volume

Announcement posted by Smartline 18 Oct 2017

The latest employment figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics give a positive outlook on the Western Australian housing market.

WA lead the country with more than 40,000 full-time jobs created since the beginning of the year.

Part-time jobs are also on the rise, with almost 50,000 added in the same period.

Combined, these figures have contributed to an unemployment rate of 5.4%, which is a positive sign for the local economy.

“Unemployment levels are the lowest that we’ve seen in two years,” said Justin Smith, Principal of Smartline Rockingham.

“Unsurprisingly, we’re seeing a correlation between job creation and signs of growth in the housing market.”

Justin Smith also referred to a study by property site Hotspotting.com.au, which showed 12 key WA suburbs had experienced sales volume growth in the latest study, up from only 4 earlier in the year.

The suburbs that have experienced growth include Alkimos, Carramar, Clarkson, Yanchep, Duncraig , Heathridge, Joondalup , Ocean Reef, Kingsley, Sorrento, Carine and Innaloo.

“Job growth, housing growth and economic growth is a powerful trifecta,” said Smith.

“These three drivers are intertwined. We are really excited about the prospect of a strong finish to 2017 and we believe the peak spring home buying season could be the catalyst for a big 2018.”
