Science and Motions Sports last week held a SAM Putt lab Putting Instructor Certification and seminar at the Perfectstroke Golf Training Centre on the Gold Coast. Science and Motion founder and Chief Scientist Christian Marquardt made himself available for a one hour question and answer session after the presentation which was delivered by PGA Australia member Mark Officer. Fifteen vocational members ,one trainee professional and one avid amateur golfer attended the one day Level One certification which covered basic use of the Puttlab system and the Six Fundamentals of Putting. The course proved interesting and valuable even for participants who don’t currently own or use the system as attested by Victorian PGA member and Rosebud Country Club professional Matthew Bolton. He described the day as fantastic and informative and especially insightful was to be able to conclude the day with the contact session via Skype with Christian Marquardt. “I look forward to being able to pass on the information I learned to my students to help their games moving forward”. Bolton stated.  Mark Officer has had a close association with Science and Motion Sports since 2006 which includes working as a rep in the USA and Australasia and working as a consultant at the Science and Motion booth at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando six times. He was assisted in the delivery of the certification and seminar by fellow PGA member David Nable who has also been a long time user and advocate of the system. The SAM Puttlab has been the leading putting analysis system in the world since its release in 2003 and uses ultrasound to analyse forty one parameters of the putting stroke. The latest version 6.0 software was released at the same time as the first certification held in Australasia and attendees were given a five minute guided tour of the new software by Christian Marquardt. He described the new features in details and how the operator can now choose what information they want to display to the student including the thirteen new parameters that have now been made available.   Science and Motion Sports offer a three level certification program with the next scheduled events set to take place in Australia in March.
