Toowoomba Woman Scooped Lawyer of the Year Award

DSWQLA President Catherine Cheek has been recognised at the 39th Annual WLAQ Awards Dinner for her valuable contribution to the law, receiving the Regional Woman Lawyer of the Year Award for 2017. 

“The award is extremely well deserved, and we would like to congratulate Catherine on her achievement,” said the DSWQLA Committee.

The Women Lawyers Association of Queensland Inc (WLAQ) is an organisation dedicated to women who are jurists, practising professionals, legal academics, legal graduates and students of law. 

The award recognises outstanding contributions to the legal profession by female lawyers in regional areas. 

“Just being nominated lifts your self-confidence. I am very honoured to have received this award because there are many talented women lawyers in regional Queensland. Knowing that there are people who believe in me and what I do gives me the motivation and inspiration to keep going when times get tough” continued Catherine.

The awards dinner was held at Sofitel Hotel, Brisbane, on 27 October 2017 and is considered by the WLAQ ‘to be the highlight of the 2017 Events Calendar’.
