BLUNT™ AND RONE team up to celebrate a limited edition street art umbrella for Oxfam Australia

Announcement posted by 360PR 29 Nov 2017

Cult NZ umbrella brand BLUNT™ has collaborated with internationally renowned Australian street artist Rone, for their latest special edition design: a limited run, portable artwork designed to support Oxfam Australia’s important work – one umbrella at a time.

Tackling poverty in some of the world’s most vulnerable communities, Oxfam works to empower people around the globe to find lasting solutions to poverty. They do this by implementing long-term projects, campaigning for change, and responding to humanitarian emergencies.

BLUNT’s mission is to create ‘for life’ products, reducing the kind of needless disposability that adversely impacts the environment. Joining forces, Oxfam and BLUNT kicked off the fundraising collaboration with iconic artist, Dick Frizzell in New Zealand in 2016, and this year they’ve set their sights on Australia.

“We’re excited by the opportunity to collaborate with BLUNT and Rone on this great project,” said Oxfam Australia Director of Public Engagement, Pam Anders.

“The funds raised through this project will go a long way in supporting some of our life-changing work around the world,” Anders explains. “For example, Oxfam helps communities throughout Asia Pacific and beyond adapt to climate change.  There’s a great connection between BLUNT’s vision to reduce impact on the environment and Oxfam’s work with communities affected by climate change.”

For BLUNT, acclaimed Australian street artist, Rone was the ideal choice for a highly collectable, portable piece of art. Best known for his stunningly haunting ‘Jane Doe’ portraits, Rone uses his art to emphasise the connection between beauty and decay; leaving behind a string of beautiful female visages on derelict buildings in forgotten communities around the world.

“I regularly say no to companies pitching product collaborations to me, but this one was an exception,” explains Rone. “The difference is that this is not just about me and BLUNT producing something cool; it’s a project that has tangible benefits for people in real need,” he says. “And it helps that BLUNT is known for making a seriously good product.”

A run of 2500 limited edition BLUNT + RONE umbrellas will be available in Australia from 29 November – making an ideal Christmas gift idea.

And, with BLUNT donating $30 to Oxfam Australia with each umbrella sold, it’s a gift that keeps on giving.

BLUNT co-founder, Scott Kington says: “Australians, much like Kiwis, like to give people a fair go but there are plenty of people around the world who aren’t as lucky as we are. We’re thrilled to support Oxfam’s mission to make sure no one has to live in poverty and we hope this product can raise awareness and funds to help the incredible work that Oxfam is doing in these communities.”

BLUNT + RONE will be available in the BLUNT™ Classic model, RRP$129 online at https://www.bluntumbrellas.com/rone
