NATIONAL ROADSHOW ARRIVES IN TOOWOOMBA
ORCAM EXCITING TECHNOLOGY BRINGS HOPE TO AUSTRALIANS WITH READING DISABILITY
Accessing all the information we are presented with each day is becoming increasingly challenging for people with a vision or reading disability. In employment, education and in daily life, obtaining information easily, and as we need, is vital.
A free technology seminar will showcase the latest in technology, equipment and support services for people with low vision, blindness, dyslexia and other print disabilities and the professionals assisting them.
Quantum RLV will present the launch of the award winning OrCam MyEye, an intuitive wearable device with a smart camera that clips onto a regular spectacle frame; just point and it reads to you. It is designed to assist anyone who struggles to read, has a learning disability, or trouble recognising faces or objects ‐ particularly people who are blind or vision impaired.
Orcam MyEye allows the wearer to instantly and discretely read text, recognise faces, as well as identify products and money notes. It allows a person to regain their independence and confidence-it relaxes them, makes them feel safer leading to self-reliance. Some commentators are describing OrCam MyEye as the beginning of a new era in information access.
Local residents are invited to meet the experts, hear personal stories, see demonstrations and have hands-on experience with OrCam MyEye. There will also be an opportunity for networking and socialising with key speakers and attendees.
