Crafty residents raise $2600 for charity

Christmas sale a huge success

Residents at Forresters Beach Retirement Village raised $2600 for charity at their Christmas craft market last month.

Hundreds of eager visitors snapped up a variety of Christmas and gift items contributed by the village’s craft, sewing, jewellery and workshop groups.

Assistant Village Manager Julie Ramage said residents had worked for months making items for the sale.

“It’s been a wonderful team effort,” she said.

“We have some very talented residents at our village.”

Resident Jacqueline Bunning helped organise the event.

“The money will go to the Salvation Army, as well as a taxi service that takes cancer patients to and from hospital,” she said.

“It was a good turnout, everyone was very happy and friendly, and we sold lots of raffle tickets.”

Jacqueline said organising the sale brought residents closer together.

“It made for a friendly atmosphere in the village and we’re grateful to everyone involved.”
