ARNIE RUNS FOR THE KIDS!

 Arnold Schwarzenegger, governator, terminator, worldwide movie star, business leader, environmentalist and philanthropist, will officially start The Herald Sun/CityLink Run For the Kids ‪on Sunday 18th March 2018 as part of the worldwide star’s visit to Melbourne  for the Arnold Sports Festival Australia to be held in Melbourne ‪Friday 16th to Sunday 18th March 2018The Arnold Sports Festival is an official event partner of Run for the Kids.

Arnold Schwarzenegger says “ I’m on a global fitness crusade to get kids off the couch and get them moving. The Arnold Sports Festival and the Run For the Kids are fantastic partners in promoting health and fitness to and for everyone. ”  

Race Director Steve Moneghetti says “ How good is it for us to have Arnold Schwarzenegger start the Race next year? He is a worldwide superstar who is committed to getting people active so he is an ideal ‘fit’ for our event. I am delighted to welcome him to our team and know that He’ll be back for future events once he sees what a great cause we are running for “

The Herald Sun/CityLink Run For the Kids is one of Victoria’s most loved events. It is a community event with over 30,000 participants, and its primary aim is to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.The appeal is maintained, funded and nurtured by the Herald and Weekly Times, and since 1956, by television partner Channel Seven. 

As part of the official event partnership with the Arnold Sports Festival, all registered participants in the Herald Sun/ Citylink Run For The Kids will receive free entrance to the Australia’s largest multi sports festival and fitness expo on Sunday March 18th upon presentation of their race bib after the race on Sunday 18th March 

Tony Doherty, Arnold’s Australian partner and Arnold Sports Festival organiser says “Children are a cause close to Arnold’s heart. He loves coming to Melbourne each year. This is his 6thvisit to Australia in as many years and we are so proud to be able to help raise funds from the Arnold Sports Festival and the Herald Sun City Link Run For The Kids for the Good Friday Appeal. Everyone who participates will be able to attend the Arnold Sports Festival for free with their running bib!” 

After a spectacular debut in 2006, the Herald Sun | CityLink Run for the Kids has grown to one of Victoria’s largest mass-participation fun runs with participants experiencing a tremendous thrill running over a great course for a great cause.The event is proud of its position as the single biggest fundraising contributor for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. To date the event has raised over $15.6 million dollars for the appeal.

The Arnold Sports Festival is Australia's largest fitness expo and multi-sport festival including the Arnold Kids Zone with over 40 different sporting events and activations, 10,000 competitors and 60,000 visitors attending the three day schedule jam packed with activities for all sports lovers, families and fitness fanatics alike. 

The Good Friday Appeal is a not for profit charity that raises money to enable The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide world class care for our children. The Appeal brings all sectors of the community together to raise funds every year culminating in a 15 hour telethon on Good Friday, and thanks to the support of the community has made the RCH a global leader in paediatrics
