Dental Industry Welcomes New Jobs & Innovation Ministers

Announcement posted by Australian Dental Industry Association 20 Dec 2017

The peak business organisation representing dental product manufacturers and suppliers, the Australian Dental Industry Association (ADIA), has welcomed the new Ministerial line-up that focusses on the creation of jobs and innovation by small businesses.

“Australia’s dental product manufacturing sector has a reputation for developing innovative patient diagnostic and treatment pathways. ADIA looks forward to working with the new Ministers as they set about the task of creating a framework in which these businesses can invest in new product development,” said Troy Williams, ADIA Chief Executive Officer.

In a key move Senator Michaelia Cash will become Minister for Jobs and Innovation, a key portfolio for the dental industry with its innovation focus.

“Innovative businesses are also twice as likely to increase their productivity and employment and the leadership of Senator Cash in this area will be vital to secure the long-term sustainability of Australia’s dental manufacturing sector,” Mr Williams said.

ADIA has welcomed Senator Zed Seselja as the new Assistant Minister for Science, Jobs and Innovation.

“I’ve known Senator Seselja for more than a decade and ADIA is confident of his ability to develop the policies that will allow the dental industry to recruit people with the skills necessary to develop new dental products,” Mr Williams said.

The ADIA membership supplies more than ninety-five percent of dental products used nation-wide and around half of these business turn over less than $10 million per year. It is in this context that ADIA welcomes the appointment of Craig Laundy MP as Minister for Small and Family Business, Workplaces and Deregulation.

“Cutting red-rape is such an important issue for small businesses in the dental industry and a major advocacy priority for ADIA. We look forward to working with the new Minister to address the issues important to dental product manufacturers and suppliers – many of which we have raised with him in the past,” Mr Williams said.

ADIA will meet with the Ministers in the New Year.
