Allied Medical Prescribes Promapp to Deploy Process in the Cloud

Announcement posted by Promapp 10 Jan 2018

Allied Medical, a New Zealand headquartered provider of assistive technology devices, has commenced deployment of cloud-based process management software from Promapp (https://www.promapp.com) to support the organisation’s focus on lean process improvement and ongoing business continuity.

Founded in 1998, Allied Medical supplies some of the world’s leading rehabilitation and healthcare products enabling New Zealanders of all abilities to get on with life and do the things they love.  These products include a variety of wheelchairs, power chairs, mobility scooters, walking aids, home healthcare solutions, pain management as well as bracing and support products.

Based in Auckland and with team members located in Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch, Allied Medical handles more than 5,700 products through its three warehouses while its 26 staff process more than 580 orders each week.

“We compete in an international market and have a quickly-expanding business,” explains Katie Noble, Managing Director, Allied Medical.  “As a result, we are always under pressure to drive efficiency while ensuring that people, process and technology are working to maximum effect to deliver a great customer experience.

“At the same time, we specialise in assembling complex assistive technology and customise each order to specific user requirements.  Building a power chair is a complex process, so having a platform for business process management which can support the entire process from unique order specifications to ultimate, on-time customer delivery is vital.”

Until recently, Allied Medical managed processes through manual Excel spreadsheets and Word files which were siloed within different business groups and lacked the ability for users to update and share content.

Not only did the company want a solution for business process management which would be easy to use by everyone in the business, it also wanted a platform that would enable knowledge processes to be accessible, easily updated and shared across the business.

“We initially became aware of Promapp based on their excellent references from members of the New Zealand CICE Network,” said Noble.

“Following a review, we also saw that it is a very easy-to-use solution and would enable everyone in the business from the warehouse to accounts receivable to map, manage and update a process, wherever they are located.  It will also help to standardise processes so that everyone can see them in the same format and fast track new team members who can be rapidly inducted into the business with access to shared process content.”

Allied Medical will also be able to support its tender processes with precise documentation processes that can be updated and managed in line with new product specifications.

Other key benefits for Allied Medical are Promapp’s functionality to support processes for inventory counts and financial reporting as well as for business continuity. For example, company-wide access to processes stored in the cloud will enable staff to follow best practice procedures irrespective of process owners being available.  Ultimately, this will enable the company to respond more quickly and proactively engage with both inter-departmental staff and customers at their moment of need.

“The end result will be better team engagement, greater transparency around our teams, and a more nimble and efficient company,” says Noble.  “Promapp will provide us with the benefits of lean management, business continuity and greater company-wide knowledge to make things happen faster for our customers whether that be providing a customer with a complex powerchair or prescribing the right ankle brace to get someone back on the sports field.  We’re looking forward to the benefits which Promapp will provide to the business in the years ahead.”
