FAMILY FUN RUN SET TO RAISE MUCH NEEDED FUNDS FOR SICK CHILDREN

Announcement posted by Ronald McDonald House Randwick 01 Feb 2018

The RBC Race for the Kids 2018 event will kick start a three-year fundraising partnership with Ronald McDonald House Randwick
On Sunday 11 March, over 1,000 runners are expected to don blue shirts and red and white striped socks, in an effort to raise over $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House Randwick (RHMR) at the RBC Race for the Kids.

The 2018 RBC Race for the Kids event will be held at Sydney Park and is guaranteed to be fun for everyone, including people of all ages who can run, skip, jog, scoot, walk with dogs, or pram around the 5km or 2km family-friendly routes.

Fundraising from the event will help to deliver two RMHR projects, including renovating an Isolation Unit and creating a Sanctuary Space to enable families to stay close during some of their most challenging times.

The Royal Bank of Canada’s Race for the Kids is a series of 15 charitable runs that support children’s causes in Australia, Barbados, Canada, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Luxembourg, Trinidad & Tobago, the United Kingdom, and the United States. 2018 is the fourth edition of the Sydney event and the first time it is partnering with RMHR.

Barbara Ryan, CEO of Ronald McDonald Houses Charity said: “We’re so excited that RBC is partnering with us for this wonderful event. We are extremely grateful to everyone who is taking part and thank them for their support. The funds raised will go towards supporting the amazing work that the RMHR team does in providing a home away from home for seriously ill children and their families as well as covering much needed refurbishments at the Randwick House.”

Dominic Hudson, Country Head of RBC in Australia, said: “Increasing in popularity every year, the RBC Race for the Kids has raised over $27.7 million AUD across the globe. Team RBC in Australia is excited to partner with RMHR for RBC Race for the Kids and work together to raise much needed funds to refurbish the isolation unit and create a sanctuary space enabling families to stay together during their most challenging times.”

By providing a home away from home, Ronald McDonald Houses help families stay together at one the toughest times in their lives. There are now 16 Ronald McDonald Houses in Australia, which has collectively provided over 103,000 families with more than 2.9 million bed nights.
