Global education provider leverages Boomi iPaaS to eliminate risks around on-premise IT environments
Sydney, Australia February 8, 2018Dell Boomi (Boomi) has announced that Study Group is using the Boomi integration platform to enhance the management of more than 61,000 students around the world by connecting critical data generated within its Student Management Systems, Salesforce, and other core applications. It is also leveraging the technology to simplify cloud migration strategy.

Study Group is a global education provider delivering English language and university pathway programs. Study Group put students first to prepare them for life in a global society and success in a global economy. Every year Study Group educates students from every corner of the globe, enabling them to realise their potential through a transformational learning experience. As well as operating its own colleges, it works with leading universities in major global markets, and partners with around 4,000 agents globally.

The company selected Boomi to replace a series of on-premises integrations which inhibited the accuracy and frequency of data; the traditional connections could not manage the volume of student information generated by and passing through various internal systems.

With thousands of new applicants accepted each year, Study Group implemented Boomi to enable a seamless experience for students before, during and after their studies. The Boomi integration platform-as-a-service (iPaaS), as the only truly cloud-based solution in the market, allows Study Group to ensure master data is up-to-date and uncompromised across all systems.

“We have very long sales cycles – in many cases up to a year – so data moves between different systems as students go through different stages of their learning journey,” said Marty Grant, Global Head of Delivery and Architecture, Study Group. “In the past, our on-premises integrations risked data getting out of sync or taking a long time to update across the board – and due to the complexity of the approach, it was difficult to identify and amend an issue when it occurred.

“We are now at a point where we have full visibility over data, which has made employees more productive and further boosted trust in our systems from the agents with whom we partner – that’s important when you consider 80 per cent of our business comes through that channel.”

Boomi has processed the data accurately to-the-minute no matter where it was accessed or the system in which it waas been updated. This level of availability and visibility has encouraged employees and agents to engage with Study Group’s software and services more frequently.

Meanwhile, due to the low-code design of the Boomi iPaaS solution, Study Group can easily scale up by creating further connections and without the need to consume valuable IT resources.

The Boomi platform also provides a pathway for Study Group to easily transition to the cloud as it simplifies the migration of formerly on-premises data as it adopts further Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions. As a result, Study Group anticipates a majority of its core systems to be cloud-based within five years.

“As we move further down our cloud roadmap, having a dedicated cloud-based integration capability will make it very easy to shift data off premises, and any new services we deploy can be connected with a few clicks,” said Grant.

“Delivering memorable education experiences to a network of students as large as Study Group’s involves countless moving parts, and technology simply can’t get in the way,” said Michael Evans, Managing Director Asia-Pacific and Japan, Dell Boomi. “With Boomi’s integration platform linking core business applications and the information they contain, Study Group is able to improve the student experience in every aspect of their interaction from enrolment through to graduation.”
