Announcement posted by Australiance 01 Mar 2018

Kathmandu, Wednesday 28 February 2018 - Startup&Angels, the popular startup event, with editions in Sydney, Singapore, Phnom Penh, Port Moresby and other cities, is arriving in Kathmandu for its first edition, on Tuesday 6 March at the Bikalpa Art Center.

After 16 successful editions around the world since 2016, from Sydney to Singapore, Phnom Penh, Port Moresby or Melbourne, Startup&Angels is coming to Kathmandu. Organised by startups and emerging markets enthusiasts Axel Peyriere from Emerging Classifieds Ventures and Leo Denes from Australiance, the event wants to connect more entrepreneurs, ideapreneurs, business angels, investors and medias together around informal events around the world.

This first edition will bring together various entrepreneurs and shakers in the Nepalese tech startup scene such as Binit Sharma from Basobaas.com, the most advanced real estate website in the country ; Sixit Bhatta from Tootle, the popular ridesharing app in Nepal ; Kavi Raj Joshi from NEXT Venture Corp, providing support to the local ecosystem in many ways ; as well as other soon to be announced speakers. All of them will share their incredible journeys and experience in the Nepalese startup scene, and discuss valuable insights on how startups and new technologies projects can thrive in an emerging market such as Nepal, with a 30 million people population, with almost 10 million people on social medias, an increase of more than 30% since last year. Startups and new technologies are booming fast in Nepal, and Startup&Angels will definitely discuss more about it in future editions with other founders and stories.

Axel Peyriere and Fredrik Orrenius, co-founders of Emerging Classifieds Ventures, one of the largest operator of marketplace and classified websites in emerging markets, will also discuss about how emerging markets entrepreneurs have great opportunities in their hands in less competitive and fast growing markets where they are and live.

More than 10 new editions are planned this year, with different regional sponsors such as Microsoft, Smart Axiata and others.

For this first edition, registrations are on invitation online at kathmandu@startupandangels.com and on its Facebook event page. Tuesday 6 March at Bikalpa Art Center from 5pm.
