Written by youngest ever AWGIE winner, Andrea Dal Bosco
Io, Mammeta E Tu, a play written by youngest ever AWGIE winner, Andrea Dal Bosco and presented by the Settlement Services International (SSI)- Future Ability Project is the journey of five Italo-Australians living with disability in Australia. With stories, song and dance, this WORLD PREMIERE drama production shares what it is to live a life less able. The contemporary interactive multi-media and live play experience enlightens audiences, helping Italo-Australians gain a clear understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the support available. We celebrate lives changed forever!
Premiering at Canada Bay Club on the weekend of Saturday 10th to Sunday 11th March 2018, as well as Club Marconi from Saturday 17th to Sunday 18th March 2018, Maria, Aldo, Gaetano, Giuseppe and his daughter, Connie explore an evening that brings hope to those less able, and opens the door to an improved quality of life for Italo-Australians living with disability. Who knows, you might meet an old friend as well and share quattro chiacchiere?
Io, Mammeta E Tu, is more than just a traditional stage play presentation. It is an evening of performance theatre combined with cutting edge multi-media, like no other performed before in Australia. By using humour, drama and an interactive, state-of-the-art film experience, this work will delve deep into the lives and souls of an often forgotten and overlooked community of Italian Australians.
The success of this Teatro a (r) te production will only be measured by how the Italian community understands and makes use of the National Insurance Disability Scheme to better their quality of life.
Teatro a (r) te is a company that celebrates the Italo-Australian community, talent and points of view. It is a company built for a generation that grew up split between what is Italian and what is Australian. A unique generation with a unique voice. Teatro a (r) te aims to unite and focus this voice – through theatre that provokes discussion. As a voice for the community that improves peoples lives, towards a brighter future.
Presented by the Settlement Services International (SSI)- Future Ability Project and the up-and-coming company Teatro a (r) te; the WORLD PREMIERE of the new Australian play; Io, Mammeta E Tu, brings Italo-Australians living with disability new found hope – changing lives for the better, forever. A world premiere experience not to be missed.
