TSYS selects PROGNOSIS by Integrated Research for single-view management solution of NonStop computing environment

Announcement posted by Integrated Research 09 Sep 2002

PROGNOSIS to enhance system reliability and performance of mission-critical cardholder authorizations applications
TSYS, a global provider of electronic transaction services for some of the worlds best known and most respected financial institutions and retailers, has selected PROGNOSIS by Integrated Research (IR), to manage its HP NonStop computing environment that implements mission-critical cardholder authorizations applications. Integrated Research is the leading developer of systems management software for high-availability computing environments worldwide.

PROGNOSIS is an integrated systems management product designed specifically for our platform and enables us to manage our midrange NonStop computing environment from a single view. This means we are better equipped to proactively monitor our systems to identify potential problems before our clients and their customers are adversely affected, says Phillip Patrick, director of technical support, TSYS. We selected PROGNOSIS for its ability to provide detailed root-cause analysis and customisable automation features, as well as Integrated Researchs commitment as a technology partner and its market leadership.

Patrick cites several factors behind his teams need to deploy PROGNOSIS, including rapid growth in the companys mid-range HP NonStop environment, the obsolescence of disparate point products and the need to improve service levels while driving down unit costs all while maintaining the highest level of service.

TSYS exemplifies how companies are looking towards more integration-smart solutions for streamlining system performance and management, while demonstrating clear return on investment, both internally and externally, says Steve Killelea, president and chief executive officer, Integrated Research. With the high volumes of transactions processed daily by TSYS, seconds of downtime can impact millions of customers. PROGNOSIS provides a system-wide view of resources and availability, as well as the advanced capability to manage the real-time, critical analysis, prevention or resolution of system demands in a single tool, with minimal impact on system resources.

The objective of the PROGNOSIS deployment was to replace the companys modular approach to environmental monitoring and management, with a consolidated solution that would expand their capabilities, while enhancing reliability and performance. PROGNOSIS will now manage the 14 production and two development nodes of the NonStop environment supporting the cardholder authorizations applications process.

Authorizations are critical to our business because TSYS interacts directly with our clients customers the cardholders, says Patrick. When people pick up a phone, they expect a dial tone -- every time. And when cardholders present their cards for payment, they expect them to work -- every time. PROGNOSIS helps us deliver that level of performance to our clients and their customers.
