Melbourne Property Expo to boost market slump

Announcement posted by Mercer PR 08 Mar 2018

Victorian developers will be hoping that this weekend’s annual Melbourne Property Expo being held at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will provide a much-needed boost to an increasingly tough local property market.

According to numerous reports, apartment prices in Melbourne have recently fallen by between 5 and 10 per cent and this week it was reported that the preliminary auction clearance rate had slumped to 67.3 per cent across 1,523 auctions, down from 78.4 per cent across 1,459 auctions a year ago.

This year’s Property Expo, the largest of its type ever seen in Australia, will host over 80 exhibitors and offer property buyers and investors better deals and exclusive incentives as developers look to increase their sales.

The expo, which is free to the public, is presented by First Media who has organised 16 similar expos across the country. First Media director Na Yu says not only will this be the largest, but it will feature 22 investment seminars from experts across the property, finance, legal and investments sectors.

“Exhibitors come back every year because they rely on the sales from this event, and the big winners are the buyers and investors because developers are competing for their business under the one roof.

“We expect tens of thousands of people to attend and deals to be done for major development projects locally and across Australia.”

First Media started by helping developers target the Australian Chinese market and in the early days the expo also targeted this market, but due to its popularity it has now become Melbourne’s overall premier property exposition.

Major exhibitors include Mayland, VICPROP, UEM Sunrise, R&F Property, H&T, Lendlease, EightCap, Central Equity, Poly, Jinding Group, Ironfish, Savills, Colliers International, Fletchers Projects and Award Mortgage.

Bankers, brokers, lawyers, accountants and other real estate and investment professionals will also feature.

The expo will run from 10am to 5pm, this coming Saturday and Sunday, 10-11 March.
