Teksmobile Celebrates International Women’s Day In Grand Style

Teksmobile, a multinational cross-platform app and game development agency, celebrated International Women’s Day last Thursday - with a series of interesting gifts and events for the female employees. It was all done in a bid to show appreciation for the ladies - and the day indeed turned out to be great.

Team Teks has a tradition of coming up with unique ideas to celebrate Women’s Day each year. A senior iOS developer revealed that, for this year, the planning had started from more than a month in advance. There were many things to be finalized - right from the cards and gifts to be given, to the fun activities to be organized during the day. Every male employee came up with suggestions and thoughts, while company CEO Hussain Fakhruddin was also actively involved in the plans.

Collaboration and teamwork are two pillars that Teksmobile has come to rely upon in a big way over the years - and the readiness to work together shone through during the preparations for the Women’s Day celebrations. According to one of the project managers, it was a challenge to make all the arrangements - while keeping everything ‘hush-hush’ and out of sight from the ladies. The focus was on springing a nice surprise on them on D-day, and the team was more than successful in that.

Keeping things DIY was a strategy on the part of the ‘Teks Family’ to add a personal touch to the celebrations. Instead of simply splurging money, the team were ready to actually invest time and effort to customize both the gifts and the program schedule on Women’s Day. A classic case in point would be that of the head of the graphic designing team - who took out time to design personalized cards for the women employees. The marketing team, for their part, held several meetings to decide upon the suitable quotes and wishes for each lady. It was all about making each woman in Teks feel special - and generic gifts simply won’t have cut it.

March 8 dawned nice and sunny, and the day began earlier than usual at Teks. A small team was at office more than two hours before the others - arranging the personalized cards and the soft toys and the chocolates at the workstations of the ladies. In an exclusive tête-à-tête, one of the in-house software testers revealed that they had quite a bit of fun while trying to guess who would like which teddy the best. The fact that everyone loved what they got proved that this ‘research’ was worth it!

On the occasion of International Women’s day, the guys from Teks also took it upon themselves to deck up the office floor. Colourful balloons and streamers were arranged for, there was soft music playing in the background, and interesting light effects were created - to make the rooms appear just that bit magical. “I had an inkling that this day is going to be different, in a good way”, chuckled the lady HR manager at Teks.

A couple of the male employees had brought their high-end DSLR cameras to office on the day - and as soon as the ladies had settled down (after the squeals of delight on seeing the surprises neatly arranged on their tables!), the photography session started. A combination of the expertise of the photographers and the pretty faces of the ladies ensured that each of the photos turned out to be amazing. Mr. Fakhruddin, with his personal DSLR, also joined in the fray. Teknowledge has always been a place where seniors can mingle freely with the juniors - and this Women’s Day offered further proof of that.

Not all the ladies associated with Teks could be present at office on the day - and special arrangements were made for them as well. Pictures of the card were scanned and emailed to them, while their gifts were couriered. Cards had been designed for the wives of some of the employees - and they were also despatched in the morning. In a personal message, Mr Fakhruddin referred to all the ‘Teks ladies’ as ‘silent warriors’ - and thanked them for overcoming multiple odds, and emerging as vital cogs in the sustained success of the company.

The festivities did not end with the gifts and the good wishes though. After a grand team lunch, a few of the male employees - including the head of administration, the senior IoT developer and the digital marketing manager - started to transform the spacious conference room into a makeshift studio. The plan was to conduct one-on-one informal video interview sessions with the ladies. With important inputs and hands-on support from the CEO himself, the setup was ready in a couple of hours. The video sessions started right after - and everyone enjoyed the shooting.

Mr. Fakhruddin also tipped his hat to the unrelenting professionalism and the ‘ready-for-anything’ attitude of his team. He highlighted two things to make his point. Firstly, although the ladies had little or no experience of facing the camera, they talked confidently, were fluent, and seemed very much at ease in the frames. Also, many of the team-members voluntarily decided to stay back till late on that day - to catch up on project-related work. Team Teks certainly knows how to celebrate special occasions - but it is certainly not prepared to compromise on productivity levels.

The day came to an end with the ladies arranging for a team dinner for the guys - as a token of gratitude for the hard work the latter had put in. Before leaving, one of the married lady employees quipped that Teks had increased her expectations for great gifts for this day...and maybe she would ask her hubby for a present as well. The gentlemen at Teksmobile wanted to gift a special day to their lady co-workers on International Women’s Day - and their efforts were indeed applaud-worthy.
