MTC Australia contracted to deliver Youth Frontiers for three more years

Announcement posted by MTC Australia 13 Mar 2018

Youth Frontiers is a NSW Government youth mentoring program that targets students between the ages of 12 and 16 who may benefit from the support of a mentor.

MTC Australia is excited to announce it has won the right to deliver the Youth Frontiers mentoring program for a further three years.

Youth Frontiers is a NSW Government youth mentoring program that targets students between the ages of 12 and 16 who may benefit from the support of a mentor. Focused on increasing students’ wellbeing and connection to the community, the program helps young people improve and develop skills in leadership, team work, communication and decision making. Volunteer mentors receive specialised training and ongoing support.

Since the implementation of Youth Frontiers in February 2015 MTC Australia has helped 942 young people across NSW to reach their full potential.

Martin Keil, General Manager – Youth & Community, said the new contract expands the program’s reach, allowing MTC Australia to facilitate the development of more quality mentoring relationships.

“This new contract enables us to reach a higher number of young people from a wider age group, allowing us to capitalise on the excellent work we have done over the past three years,” Mr Keil said.

“We will be continuing to offer the program in Western Sydney, South Western Sydney and the Nepean regions. These are communities that we already have a strong presence in, and we’re excited to be able to further develop our relationships.”

Mr Keil added that a major focus of the Youth Frontiers program is the young person’s participation in a community activity.

“This participation could range from volunteering with a local organisation or working with the local council to helping organise a school event or function,” Mr Keil said.

The NSW Government has committed to funding Youth Frontiers until 2020.
