Dansing Pty Ltd, a leading dance and performance academy in Brisbane is celebrating its 25 years of artistic inspiration and dedication.

To Loren Pennisi, the Principal and Director of Dansing, the academy is more than a dance academy. It’s a stepping stone for continued success.  “It’s life skills,” she said. “It’s experience, it’s what they’re going to use later in their lives—and that is very important.”

Whether child or adult, the academy hopes to bring out the best in any individual, with the fundamental idea being that every person has some innate talent or ability which can be nurtured and instructed until it blossoms into a lifelong passion. 

For some of the students, like 9-year-old Shareen Long, that passion developed rather quickly. Under the tutelage of instructor Loren Pennisi for only a year, Shareen exemplified just how important an understanding of dance is.  

“I take the academy pretty seriously,” Loren said. “A big part of dance lessons is focus and attention to detail, and hard work. Anything you do that involves those things can also involve a lot of fun. You forge a relationship with your student, and their excitement about impressing you with your hard work, well that’s fun too.”

The dance academy Brisbane provides many different classes for children, teenagers and adults including ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip-hop, acrobatics, aerial silks, ballroom, tap, strength and conditioning, toddler classes, singing and drama.

Whether practicing for a recital or preparing for a professional career, the success at the Dance Academy stems from three things: consistency, discipline and commitment. Expectations may be high, but it’s not all about results.

“When they dance very well, that’s what we train them for,” Loren said. “But, I think that’s not the goal. What I think really counts is, how this dance education actually affected their lives, did it do anything beyond the point of their performances?”

Dansing Pty Ltd is home to The Young Australian Talent Company and has been Brisbane’s leading dance and performance school for over 25 years. The Academy fully equipped studio is located close to Paddington with students attending the studio from all over Brisbane.
