AllightSykes Switches On To Promapp For Global Process Transformation

Announcement posted by Promapp 04 Apr 2018

Sydney, 4 April 2018 – AllightSykes, the leading manufacturer of lighting towers and pumps worldwide and the driving force behind FG Wilson generators and Perkins engines in Australasia, has commenced deployment of Promapp’s cloud-based business process management software to support ongoing process improvement across its global business operations.

Headquartered in Perth, AllightSykes is a company with a reputation for delivering high-quality industrial products, including mobile lighting towers, pumps, generators and diesel engines, and services both domestically and internationally.

Todd Holland, Financial Controller, AllightSykes says, “Our mission is to lead the market as the preferred supplier of innovative solutions that keep customers productive, but we have been hampered by having no standardised approach to capturing processes.  Increasingly, we needed to map out our processes across the regions to drive the efficiency of both our domestic and international business.”

AllightSykes had been using Visio, Word and Excel to store knowledge but this was kept on a mix of shared drives, emails or on an intranet which were either inaccessible to all team members across both the Allight and Sykes operations, or whose embedded content was too difficult to update.

“We found that over time various departments had used these tools once to map a process, which was soon forgotten about. These platforms weren’t user friendly, and made it hard to refresh processes when people left the company, or compliance regulations changed.

“Increasingly, as we have grown our manufacturing base and distribution in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Indonesia, the US and the Middle East, we required a standardised process management approach. This would improve accessibility, enable process ownership for cross-team collaboration, and help us to share resources, knowledge and ideas while improving overall company performance,” says Holland.

In addition, AllightSykes needed processes that were easy for business teams to use and update and that did not require extensive technical knowledge. The company turned to cloud-based software from Promapp to support its continuous improvement efforts and be the backbone for seamless, global process management.

Specifically, AllightSykes will deploy Promapp’s risk management capability which features a repository for policies and workflow approvals to maintain and support its global risk compliance requirements, including ISO compliance. It will also help AllightSykes to address ongoing safety regulation updates, tracking process owner actions, and control sign-offs and escalations.

“We looked at the overall feature functionality of Promapp and liked the fact that process owners from the assembly line to customer-facing teams would be able to work with its friendly graphical user interface, access the latest processes, suggest improvements for policies, and operate with a single source of truth whether they are located in South Carolina, Dubai or the Hunter Valley,” says Holland.

AllightSykes will also deploy Promapp’s Process Variant Management functionality which will help them to manage process variations across the company’s global operations while also taking account of specific requirements of the unique locations in which the company operates, enabling it to control and improve customised products and services.

“This is a game changer for us as we’ll be able to calculate the cost of process variants across the business.  We have different foreign operations so we’ll now be able to understand what every part of the business is doing and how they are performing, while gaining considerable efficiency gains through the removal of doubling up of tasks.  We will also be able to understand who is responsible for what, and to allocate processes globally.

“Promapp will support our overall belief in driving innovation, and constantly learning while reinforcing reliability, safety and client focus,” concluded Holland.
