PECAN DELUXE LAUNCHES SIGNATURE COOKIE DOUGH SOLUTIONS IN AUSTRALIA

Announcement posted by Allott & Associates Ltd 09 Apr 2018

Australian food companies rejoice! Food tailor and ingredients specialist Pecan Deluxe Candy is launching its global signature cookie dough into the Australian marketplace

It’s a well-known fact that North American trends in food sectors eventually work their way to the rest of the world, and edible cookie dough for the masses is reputed to have originated in a US ice cream brand early in the 1990s. Today, in Europe alone, Pecan Deluxe produces over 20 tonnes of cookie dough every week, serving hundreds of household name food manufacturers.

Cookie dough of varying flavours and sizes is massively popular in the US and Europe, especially in ice cream, bakery and dessert lines – in fact Pecan Deluxe is the largest supplier to the European ice cream industry. Even Asia is getting in on the act with the latest trend for cookie dough mochi, a traditional dessert updated with a cookie dough twist.

Founded in 1950, Pecan Deluxe was originally a retail ice cream business, hence its outstanding reputation in the ice cream industry. It was only in 1960 that the company began to focus on ingredients and since then it has gone from strength to strength, expanding into Europe in 2000 and the Asia Pacific region a few years later. Pecan Deluxe’s trusted distribution partner in Australia is the equally reputable ingredients specialist Hawkins Watts, which already has established supply relationships with many blue-chip food companies across the country.

The two partners are expecting great things from the launch of the cookie dough lines, which include plain, raspberry, chocolate and chocolate chip variants as well as bespoke flavours, all supplied as individual frozen pieces to reach the production line in perfect condition (MOQ applies). One of Pecan Deluxe’s key strengths is its R&D department that not only anticipates key market trends and develops new ingredients to suit, but also works side by side with manufacturers to develop tailored, often unique, solutions to meet a particular demand - hence the description food tailor.

Graham Kingston, Pecan Deluxe European and Asia Pacific managing director, explained: “It’s quite staggering to realise that Australian food manufacturers have not yet had the opportunity to grow their market share through the introduction of cookie dough into key product lines such as ice cream, desserts and bakery. Cookie dough is extremely versatile and compatible with numerous other ingredients, so the creative possibilities are almost infinite. It’s undoubtedly our most popular inclusion in the US and Europe and it’s hard to remember a time before this level of demand was simply business as usual.

“There are a couple of very new cookie dough parlours in Sydney and Melbourne that are apparently doing a roaring trade, so cookie dough is getting a toe-hold already. The days of concerns about eating raw dough are well behind us: formulas have long since evolved to eliminate raw egg whilst always enhancing taste and texture, and our massive sales of cookie dough across the world show that we must be getting something right.”

All Pecan Deluxe products – which include praline nuts, chocolate clusters, brownie pieces and a variety of sauces & toppings - are made using high quality ingredients in ISO certified facilities. The company is constantly innovating to develop new flavour and texture options. Minimum order quantities apply, contact the company for further details.
