BASTILLE FESTIVAL SYDNEY RETURNS IN 2018 FOR THE BIGGEST CELEBRATION OF FRENCH CULTURE OUTSIDE OF FRANCE

Announcement posted by BBR AGENCY 12 Apr 2018

- Celebrating 6 years in Circular Quay - Expanding to include The Rocks precinct - Popular Le Cinema and Electro Beer Garden return

Bastille Festival Sydney
is the world’s largest Bastille Day celebration (outside of France), held in Sydney over four exciting days in July. This world-class cultural experience spans both sides of Circular Quay and for the first time in the festival’s 6-year history, they’re also bringing the food, wine and art revolution to The Rocks - best of all it’s completely free to explore and family-friendly too.

Bastille Festival Sydney is renowned for its delicious, authentic French cuisine and this year they’ve selected +100 of the tastiest food stalls, leaving you to eat your way through breakfast, lunch and dinner over the 4-day event. (*Personal tip: there’s nothing more tantalising than watching fresh raclette being made right in front of you; oh and the crepes are always incredible.)

Seven of the top French wine regions will be represented at the festival, allowing visitors to revel in a rosé, sip a sauvignon blanc and consume a cabernet sauvignon; many of which are being shipped over directly from France. Let’s not forget the familiar ‘pop’ of a champagne bottle, which is sure to be a very familiar sound as you wander about the event.

A crowd-favourite from last year’s festival, the Electro Beer Garden, is back in East Circular Quay. This popular outdoor bar pairs premium craft beers with live electro-swing beats, in a neon and faux grass wonderland.

Another much-loved element returning to the festival this year is Sydney’s premiere outdoor cinema experience, Le Cinema, held on Tallawoladah Lawn (the big, grassy area in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art, in The Rocks). Imagine snuggling up in a warm blanket on a fresh winter's night, seated in a soft deck chair, a warm glass of mulled wine in hand, as you enjoy a mix of classic French comedies, family-friendly films and works by some of the great French directors (Luc Besson, we’re looking at you).

Festival Director, Vincent Hernandez said, “I’m very excited to share my country’s diverse culture with the people of Sydney. 2018 marks the 6th year we’ve celebrated in Circular Quay, and I’m proud to announce our expansion of the event to include Bastille Festival in The Rocks.”

The festival program is jam-packed with wonderful food and wine experiences, cabaret performances, magicians, street musicians and many more unique and exciting to be be revealed in the coming months.
