St Agnes’ Parish Port Macquarie Chooses Elcom to Deliver New Intranet

Announcement posted by Elcom Technology 24 May 2018

The new intranet will help improve their digital workplace through increased information sharing and collaboration

One of the largest employers in its local area, St Agnes’ Parish – Port Macquarie, positively impacts the lives of 14,000 people every day and is set to launch its new intranet using Elcom, a leading provider of digital experiences across websites, intranets, portals and learning management systems.

The Parish’s commitment to addressing community needs is evident through its services covering pastoral ministry, aged care, welfare, youth and education. Established in 1878, the Parish has grown to become the largest employer in Port Macquarie, with more than 600 employees working across 36 sites. The intranet, known as Parish Pulse, will help improve their digital workplace through increased information sharing and collaboration for their predominantly mobile workforce.

Steve Bryant, Marketing and Communications Manager at St Agnes’ Parish explains, “With so many employees and so many different locations, ensuring everyone knows what’s going on in the organisation is a high priority for us. There’s quite a large proportion of mobile employees so we need a central system to be the base and repository of information for us to communicate to staff, as well as for them to access the tools and resources they need every day.”

Steve continues, “We were using Google Sites for our intranet, but future changes were not going to meet our requirements. We started looking for a new platform to improve upon existing functionality we had, and to facilitate staff engagement through communications by allowing them to easily access the resource and tools they need. We also had to cater to our intranet champions who manage content for different service areas. The new platform would need to make life easier for them and empower them to own their own content.”

After a detailed search, the Parish chose Elcom to help them achieve their vision of building a sustainable and valuable digital workplace solution for staff. The extensive capabilities of the Elcom platform will enable the Parish to offer additional functions not previously available including document, events and automated workflow management, and integration to third party platforms such as the e-commerce platform, Ecwid.

“We liked that the modularity of the platform that can provide different solutions for specific requirements and it wasn’t the case that everything had to be built towards a certain scope. We saw the Elcom platform had quite a large potential for features and modules that could be added and removed as needed. There is a lot of flexibility available so we knew the platform could truly evolve with us”, Steve explains.

John Anstey, CEO at Elcom comments, “We are excited to be working with St Agnes’ Parish to build a robust information and communication hub for their digital workplace. They are committed to helping as many people as possible in their community and we are honoured to be able to assist them in achieving their mission.”
