·         Glenroy took out Melbourne’s top spot for lubricant sales, while South Yarra residents bought the most sex toy cleaning products.

·         When it comes to more advanced adult toys, Hawthorn took the top spot for the most extra-large dildo purchases, while Kensington is number one for extra-large anal toy purchases.

·         Aberfeldie residents like to add extra spark to the bedroom through the use of electro-stimulation sex toys, while Melbourne’s biggest strap-on sex toy lovers reside in Hallam.

Emma said adult toys are becoming increasingly normalized in Australia, and Melbourne is leading the way.

“Sex toys and sexual experimentation is spoken about often in mainstream media, magazines, movies and popular television programmes now, which is all contributing to reducing the stigma around sex toys, and is ultimately leading more and more people to try them,” Emma said.

“Fifty Shades of Grey, for example, led to a huge increase in sex toy sales, particularly bondage gear, which shows the power popular culture has on increasing awareness and dispelling stigma.”
