Spotlight on William Upfield - Chapter House Funerals, Hearse Driver.

William was born in Brisbane, Queensland and moved to Melbourne with his family in 1954. Leaving Croydon High School to join the Royal Australian Navy as a radar plotter teaching skills such as respect, discipline, organisation and attention to detail that William still carries today. 


William also served in the Australian Federal Police Force before a long-standing career in the motor industry, as general sales manager of brands such as Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Ferrari and Bentley. 


Prime Minister Tony Abbott personally chose the semi-retired William as his driver for when he was in Victoria and other official Commonwealth functions. A highlight was 2014 G20 in Brisbane when William was the Prime Ministers driver and was part of the cavalcade of vehicles including President Barack Obama and President Vladimir Putin.


In recent years William was formally trained by Allison Monkhouse funeral directors as a hearse driver and funeral directors assistant.


William is now the lead hearse driver for Chapter House and is also a partner in the business.
