‘WORLD’S BIGGEST CAR BOOT SALE’ - PRELOVED TO RELOVED, WE WANT YOU TO JOIN THE SECOND HAND REVOLUTION!
A community event to raise funds for Hunter Life Education.
The ‘World’s Biggest Car Boot Sale’ is back on Saturday 19 May 2018 at our established new home of the Newcastle Entertainment Centre and Showgrounds. The event has been running for 11 years and it’s a real winner with the community and stallholders alike.
The event has always had a strong focus on sustainability and providing a safe place for the community to sell their preloved or collectable items, but this time around we’re working hard to assist the ‘war on waste’ movement and have included education and instruction on how ordinary households can reduce their impact on the environment and live more sustainably.
AGL have provided sponsorship funding to assist us with operating a ‘Sustainability Stage’ where presenters will show event attendees how they can easily make a few adjustments to their household routines to help save the environment and save some cash!
There will be presentations from TerraCycle Australia whose main focus is ‘eliminating the idea of waste’ and work to ‘recycle the unrecyclable’; LifeLine Hunter and Central Coast Designer Depot will show how to find and style recycled fashion; and Hunter Water will present on using water sustainably to help secure our water supply into the future. The ‘Sustainability Stage’ is located in the undercover Exhibition Building, and will be operating from 10am.
The event will have all the things that have come to be expected from the event, with over 300 fantastic stallholders selling, recycled, upcycled, collectable, preloved, handmade and new items – shoppers are sure to find something to take home. There will be a delicious variety of food stalls to whet and fill the appetite, and of course Big Dog and Healthy Harold will be on hand at 9.45 and 11.45 to delight the kids, big and small.
Entry is just a gold coin donation and all proceeds go towards Hunter Life Education, who for over 30 years has been providing local children and young people with the knowledge and skills to make healthy lifestyle choices. Hunter Life Education’s aim is to empower our children and young people to make safer and healthier life choices through education.
Sarah Gray, Executive Officer of Hunter Life Education, values the support of stallholders and general public and believes that this event is a great way to get people involved in something that not only benefits Hunter Life Education, but the wider community: “In its 12th year, the ‘World’s Biggest Car Boot Sale’ has become an important feature on Newcastle’s annual event calendar, but by adding the important messages around sustainability and reducing our environmental impact, the event is sure to provide even more relevancy to our community.
