NEW BUILDINGLINK SKILL FOR ALEXA ENHANCES BUILDING INTELLIGENCE

Announcement posted by BuildingLink International 04 Jun 2018

Leading residential technology company, BuildingLink International (BLI), launches skill for Amazon Alexa.
The launch cements BuildingLink’s commitment to innovation in property technology and showcases its strategic approach to being at the forefront of consumer home technology through the creation of memorable living experiences.

Australians can now interact with buildings connected to BLI through Alexa-enabled devices to access building announcements, information on upcoming events and deliveries, as well as make maintenance requests, community updates or respond to surveys, by simply asking Alexa.

Alexa is the cloud-based voice service from Amazon, and the brain behind Amazon Echo and Alexa-enabled devices. Ask Alexa to answer questions, play music, hear the news, get weather and traffic reports, control your smart home, and more.

BuildingLink International General Manager, Joe Marshall, believes integrated living is the future of residential buildings worldwide.

“Simplicity and convenience is driving the smart home movement and Alexa will revitalise the way people interact with their home,” Mr Marshall said.

“We have been pioneers in creating the best residential community management software since inception, and it’s great to offer an innovative, fun new way for Australians to easily access BuildingLink’s portal via an Alexa-enabled device.”

“The launch of our skill brings to life a higher standard of liveability and provides convenience, accessibility and value to the modern-day home.”

Mr Marshall said the integration of BuildingLink with Amazon Alexa will create interactive residential experiences that allows residents to speak to the building to easily access information.

“Through voice control, users can connect to the amenities of the building,” explains Mr Marshall.

“Amazon Alexa can also be used in conjunction with our Aware! Fitness Centre Solution, which allows you to ask what equipment can be found in the gym, which machines are available for use, if the gym is busy, or what the temperature is in real-time and all via your BuildingLink App.”

“Like all users of the Amazon voice activated technology, you simply activate the BuildingLink skill by saying “Alexa, open BuildingLink”. You can then interact with the skill by triggering actions such as, “Alexa, ask BuildingLink what kind of equipment is at the gym.”

Content services include news bulletins and weather information, while you can play music, access local knowledge, follow favourite sports teams, read eBooks, play music, set timers and alarms, check calendars, and create shopping lists.

“It’s an exciting time to be a consumer,” enthused Mr Marshall.

“BuildingLink has a rich history of developing innovative ways to make residential living easier across the globe, and with the advent of Amazon Alexa, we can now offer our customers a new and practical way to leverage more convenience through technology, whilst adding value to the overall building community.”

How to Access the BuildingLink Skill for Amazon Alexa

The BuildingLink skill for Alexa can be enabled from the Alexa app on smartphones and tablets and from the Alexa Skills store on the Amazon website. Once enabled and linked to their BuildingLink account, customers can access the skill on several Amazon devices recently launched in Australia, including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Plus.

About BuildingLink International

BuildingLink International has recognised that technology can improve efficiency, transparency, productivity and reliability between all stakeholders within the management process of multi-owned properties.

The cloud -based program comprises two interlinked portals; a management site used by staff and contractors, and a resident portal, that allows building occupants to submit requests and communicate with management during and beyond building completion.

The portal streamlines interaction between all stakeholders and allows occupants, developers and management to send updates in real-time so everyone knows what is happening, as it happens.

BuildingLink International General Manager, Joe Marshall, said the program had proven to be a cost and time-saving technology that makes every facet of building life easier.

“With time and convenience one of our most valuable commodities, enhancing person-centred liveability is an ongoing societal challenge,” he said.

“The software eliminates multiple systems and databases and introduces an innovative new way of communication that is both transparent and effective.”

“Having been at the forefront of integrated community development for over two decades, we combine new technology with innovative thinking, to augment the quality of life, health and wellbeing for our clients in their living space.”

Functions of the portal and app include communication, record keeping, maintenance, task tracking, incidents and events between occupants, building staff, contractors and strata managers.

BuildingLink International, which launched in Australia in 2011, represents BuildingLink across South East Asia and other parts of the globe. The online cloud-based system is used in prestigious residential and mixed-use developments across Australia, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
