Get your blood pumping!

Time and time again we hear about the health benefits of exercise, including the ways in which it helps to boost our immunity and fight against disease.
Studies have supported the belief that regular engagement in moderate exercise promotes an increase in immunoglobin A, which is an antibody that neutralises pathogens. Whether it be hitting the gym, going for a run, playing winter sports, or joining in on a dance class, get your blood pumping this winter to help fight your flu.

Clear the air

Airborne pathogens are one of the many ways we can catch the flu, so purifying the air around you is an effective way of eradicating the spread of harmful germ particles. Air purifiers are a great way to improve the air quality in your home or office, in order to keep the air fresh and clean. Using patented Plasmacluster Ion technology, the filters in Sharp’s Air Purifiers capture 99.97% of airborne dust particles and inactive airborne microbes. The purifiers also release positive and negative ions into the air, which adhere to floating microbes, breaking them open, and rendering them inactive. By cleansing the air of nasties, you’re decreasing the chances of catching or sharing your cold with others sharing the space around you.

Amp up your diet

Having a healthy diet is a sure-fire way to boost your immune system, so make sure you get all your vitamins and nutrients this winter. Stock up on seasonal veggies that are rich in vitamins C and D, pack in proteins and legumes that are high in zinc, and don’t hold back on the garlic. In fact, our team in the Sharp kitchen have pulled together the
perfect pumpkin soup recipe (full of all the right flu-fighting vitamins) that can be cooked in a microwave and be ready in less than half an hour (thanks to Sharp’s smart inverter microwave technology)!

Drink tea

In addition to a hearty and balanced diet this winter, keeping hydrated by brewing vitamin-rich tea is another great way to fight off that nasty cold. All containing their own natural medicinal qualities, lemon (high in vitamin C), ginger and honey (both rich in antibacterial properties) are an undeniably good combination for a flu-fighting tea. So get that kettle on, and start sipping away.

Wash your hands

This may seem obvious, but washing your hands regularly is a vital way of curbing the spread of germs! Make sure you wash your hands after every bathroom trip, before every meal, and especially after coughing or sneezing, to avoid catching the flu (or sharing it!).
