New Executive Manager for Newcastle Now

In an announcement today Newcastle Now Chair Edward Duc welcomed Richard Christian as the new Executive Manager, replacing Michael Neilsen who has stepped down to concentrate on his own business ventures.
 
Mr. Duc commented “Richard is a terrific choice and he brings a wealth of skills with over 20 years of relevant experience to the job, having co-founded and run a number of successful businesses, provided strategic marketing advice to businesses in his role as Head of Digital in an agency in Sydney, lectured at University and supported not for profit organisations via his Board of Directors roles”.
 
Richard is a creative thinker and a driver of innovation, he holds an undergraduate degree in business and is currently completing an MBA specialising in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UoN. “I’m fortunate in that I have gained a unique set of entrepreneurial, interpersonal, marketing and leadership skills, which are well suited to working for Newcastle Now and its stakeholders”. Richard went on to say that he is “highly motivated and driven to assist businesses in the city to thrive and achieve excellence”.
 
Richard and his partner have relocated to Newcastle, albeit Richard spent many years in Newcastle as a young adult. “I love Newcastle and the Hunter, and it’s great to be back here at this hugely exciting time for the City”. Richard is also a keen sailor and adventurer; “If I manage to find some spare time, I’m hoping to compete in my 6th Sydney to Hobart later this year”.
