RTL Plumbing Celebrate 70 years of Cracking Plumbing

Reynolds, Trezona and Lister Plumbing (commonly known today as RTL Plumbing), was started on May 10th of 1948 by three mates, Alf Reynolds, Len Trezona and Graham Lister, in the South Brisbane suburb of Bulimba. Over a period spanning 70 years, the business has grown from three mates working out of a garage in the back streets of Bulimba, to almost 100 staff members, led today by forward thinking husband and wife duo, Ben and Kate L’Estrange. To this day, RTL Plumbing are proud to still remain a Bulimba local and continue to stand by the service and values established by the original owners.
The current owners Ben and Kate, have professionally developed the business from providing plumbing maintenance to residential clients and businesses in Brisbane, to operating from a Brisbane and Gold Coast office across two divisions – Maintenance and Construction. Working with both Domestic and Commercial clients across South East Queensland.
When Director Ben L’Estrange took over the business in 2004, things were very different.
“When I acquired RTL Plumbing in my mid 20’s, you could count the plumbers we had on one hand. We had a couple of pretty rusty Datsun utes, fondly known as ‘the dattos’, which dated back to the 1970’s! I had a lot to learn but could see the enormous potential with the business and we have invested a huge amount of time and effort into growing RTL to what it is today. We’re by no means your ‘typical plumbers’, although the ‘plumbers crack’ comes with the trade as standard! Kate and I have worked tirelessly to create the right team and as a result, we’ve got a hard-working, respectful and devoted unit, passionate not just about plumbing but just as importantly about the professional service we provide. Collectively, we’re so proud of our history and what we’ve achieved and look forward to what our future holds.”
Today, as well as the construction division developed in 2009, the business is expanding services to the Gold Coast. Head of Maintenance, Mick Bradley is leading the coastal expansion.
“I’ve always been extremely proud of our professionalism and customer service and believe that is what sets us apart from our competitors. Being a Gold Coast local you can definitely feel a more relaxed vibe down the Coast compared to Brisbane. When needing a contractor or tradesman that often times comes at a cost to consumers and home owners who may not be receiving a reasonable level of customer service. In the short time we have been functioning on the coast the feedback we have received has certainly echoed this. It will be RTL’s focus on providing the same high level of customer service that we do here in Brisbane that I believe will allow us to continue to make waves on the Coast.”

RTL Plumbing operate across two divisions, maintenance and construction.
The maintenance division carry out work in every aspect of residential and commercial plumbing and work with valued clients in the domestic space, commercial property management, body corporates, schools and universities, residential property management, commercial warehouses and aged care and health facilities.
The construction division specialises in commercial and industrial projects, such as refurbs, fitouts and new builds of apartments, aged care facilities, hospitals and schools, defence projects, shopping centres and warehouses.
