Elcom Introduces the Most Advanced Out-of-the-Box Portal Solution Available to ANZ Schools

Announcement posted by Elcom Technology 25 May 2018

Enabling schools to provide a central communication hub for students and teachers of all digital literacy levels

Elcom Technology (Elcom), a leading digital engagement provider of portals, intranets, websites and learning management for over 1000 organisations, today introduced the most advanced out-of-the-box portal solution available to ANZ schools. The Elcom School Portal features a personalised dashboard approach and built-in integration to key school systems. This enables schools to provide a central information and communication hub for parents, students and teachers of all digital literacy levels, reducing administration and increasing community engagement.

John Anstey, CEO at Elcom explains, “There is a growing focus on improving the experience a student, parent or teacher has with all aspects of a school, alongside the need to significantly reduce time spent on repetitive administration tasks.”

This is reinforced by the results of Elcom’s recent survey of IT professionals in Australian schools at the 2018 AIS ICT Conference. 57% of IT professionals identified that they currently had a portal solution in their schools, yet 77% would like the ability to reduce administration tasks and improve communication and collaboration with parents, students and teachers. The results indicate that a significant number of schools still have not adopted a portal solution, and of those who had, many currently do not believe it is providing sufficient benefits.

John Anstey continues, “Our team has poured countless hours into perfecting the Elcom School Portal. We want schools to be confident in its ability to be a central point of communication and information, and stop relying so heavily on inefficient channels such as paper, emails and phone calls to communicate with students, parents and teachers. Part of this process was ensuring we achieve that deep level of integration with key systems often used in schools. I’m proud to say that I believe the Elcom School Portal currently features the most advanced two-way integration between any platform and the Synergetic Management System.”

The Elcom School Portal comes standard with key features highly requested by schools including forms and workflows, calendar and events management, timetables, notices and notifications. This information is presented in a simplified and user-friendly dashboard; a key requirement requested by the majority of survey respondents. Users are shown highly personalised dashboards of their (or in the case of parents, their child or children’s) activities and information. News, notices and notifications for fees due, new forms to fill out and more, are pushed to dashboards to alert users in a timely manner. The dashboard also offers each user specific choices to customise their preferences. This includes the ability to select the delivery mechanism for the types of notices they receive.

Combining these powerful tools with built-in integrations to popular third party school systems including Synergetic Management, Canvas LMS, StudentNET.  Digistorm and Skoolbag, takes administration efficiency and school communication to the next level. Schools can now provide students, teachers and parents with a rich and comprehensive information and communication resource hub. Everything from personalised attendance records, timetables, exams and assessment results and rosters, to news and upcoming events, is included.

Designed to be fully mobile-responsive, users can access the hub from any location and any device.
