Concept Safety Systems Announces Acquisition of Locatrix Communications

Announcement posted by Concept Safety 28 May 2018

Concept Safety Systems (CSS) is pleased to announce that it has acquired Locatrix Communications, one of Australia’s leading developers of mobile and location-based software.

The acquisition was approved by the companies’ respective boards on 1st March, and integration of the two businesses has been successfully completed.

CSS is a Brisbane-based SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) company, and one of Australia’s leading emergency management, safety and compliance technology businesses. Adding the Locatrix team and technology to its solution capabilities positions CSS to provide even more innovative emergency, safety compliance and training solutions to its customers.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Locatrix team to CSS”, says John Hummelstad, Executive Chairman and CEO of CSS. “We have known the Locatrix team for over 10 years, and we were greatly impressed with their capabilities in mobile and geospatial applications development while partnering with them on a project basis. As a strategic acquisition this team dramatically broadens our ability to deliver scalable, enhanced mobility and location-specific software solutions to our customers.”

The Locatrix team’s experience developing and integrating Smart City & Internet-of-things (IoT) solutions for Telstra and various urban councils throughout Australia was another key factor in CSS’s acquisition decision. “CSS is focused on helping our customers, and emergency services partners, create overall safer environments – whether it’s in a commercial building, a campus, or a city precinct. Accelerating our IoT capabilities with Locatrix brings forward our ability to deliver technology-driven ‘Safe City’ solutions - that improve preparedness, compliance and post-emergency response capabilities.”

The acquisition of Locatrix also means that CSS adds Telstra to an already impressive roster of corporate customers, including Qantas, Air Services Australia, and McDonalds Restaurants. Locatrix has been a provider of location-based SaaS solutions to Telstra since 2007, and CSS will continue to both support this existing business and nurture a further strategic relationship with Telstra for the delivery of extended capabilities to Australia’s Emergency Services agencies.
