Announcement posted by EMC 02 Jul 2003

- New multi-tiered channel partner program and online ordering system
- Reflect continued commitment to channel community.
EMC Corporation today unveiled a new multi-tiered channel partner program that increases its ability to attract and support partners. EMC's new Velocity Partner Program combines certification, training, sales, marketing and technical support with financial incentives to make it easier for resellers and integrators to offer EMC Automated Networked Storage solutions to end user customers.
Partners will be classified as an EMC Velocity Reseller, EMC Velocity Partner or EMC Premier Velocity Partner based on their qualifications, such as number of EMC-certified personnel and revenue performance. The Velocity Partner Program will also offer additional incentives as EMC works with channel partners to address new and underserved market segments with EMC's market-leading portfolio of products and services.
Frank Hauck, EMC's Executive Vice President of Customer Operations, said, "The new Velocity Partner Program is designed to better help our partners integrate their unique value with EMC's industry-leading networked storage solutions by providing more training, marketing programs and EMC resource than ever before. We want our partners to invest in the EMC relationship and EMC is committed to investing in the relationship with partners."
As part of its ongoing multi-million dollar investment in its channel strategy, EMC also introduced its new Channel Express online
configuration, price, quote and order system. This new tool, developed in conjunction with partners, will help ensure that end user customers are getting the right solution for their needs, in the most efficient manner and at the most competitive price.
The full range of EMC networked storage systems, software and services are offered through hundreds of partners worldwide. Initial supporters of the Velocity Partner Program include:
Arrow Electronics Inc.
Mike Long, president of Arrow Electronics' North American Computer Products group, an EMC national distribution partner for more than two years, said, "EMC consulted with us during the development and design of the Velocity Partner Program to ensure that it would best support our resellers. EMC is making it easier to do business with them and this program helps resellers to compete more effectively."
Avnet Hall-Mark

Jeff Bawol, Vice President and General Manager, Enterprise Software and Storage at Avnet Hall-Mark, a Tempe, Ariz.-based national distributor of EMC technology, said, "EMC recognises that all resellers are not the same. The various tiers of the Velocity Partner Program will provide benefits to all of our resellers whether large or small. It opens up a broad playing field for the resellers that purchase EMC systems and software from us and provides a framework for cooperation with EMC that will streamline business practices for its channel partners,"
Dimension Data
Mark Belles, senior vice president of global alliances for Dimension Data, a leading global technology company, said, "EMC's Velocity Partner Program will improve the focus and profitability of Dimension Data's partnership with EMC and strengthen our ability to deliver storage solutions. EMC's promise to provide Dimension Data the same training, support and tools they provide their own sales force confirms the commitment to the partnership. Ultimately, this new program is beneficial to customers, since they will have two leading organisations working on their behalf to deliver networked storage solutions."
Forsythe
Phil Tenca, vice president of Storage Solutions at Forsythe Solutions Group, Inc., a national IT infrastructure solutions company and long-term EMC partner, added, "The Velocity Partner Program will provide structured resources and programs that will bring together technical teams from both of our companies to ensure we're in lock step when deploying new technologies and solutions from EMC. This program will also help our overall market success by providing a complete framework for our business teams to work together on joint marketing and execution."
Stack Computer

John Orr, President of Irvine, Calif.-based Stack Computer, said, "We have been working with EMC for over 6 years and have had a great deal of success in designing, implementing and supporting customer infrastructures that utilise the full range of EMC solutions. The new Velocity Partner program provides numerous benefits and ultimately helps to ensure that our organisation and EMC are working even more closely as a team in the best interest of customers. EMC is stepping up its commitment to us and in turn, we'll make an even greater commitment to EMC as we continue to execute in the marketplace. The new Velocity Partner program demonstrates what we have known for years: that EMC rewards partners who provide true value and invest in the relationship."
