A male choir treat from across the Tasman on June 9th

Announcement posted by Metropolitan Male Choir of SA 04 Jun 2018

New Zealand National Male Choir joins the MMCSA at Bonython Hall

The exceptional New Zealand Male Choir, led by Joseph Christensen, will join the Metropolitan Male Choir of South Australia in a concert on the 9th of June at 7:30 pm at Bonython Hall at the University of Adelaide.

This special event will include performances by each choir as well as some shared songs so audiences can enjoy the powerful sound of two great male choirs! Both choirs sing without music and their wide repertoires include classical works, as well as modern, Broadway, folk, sacred and gospel music. The program for this event will include favourites by Leonard Cohen, John Rutter and Richard Wagner.

The New Zealand Male Choir is formed from auditioned members who come from across New Zealand. The Choir currently has about 60 members. With a similar membership, the Metropolitan Male Choir of SA was established in 1927. The choir is led by Mr Evan Patton.

As part of what each chorister feels is their mission -- to promote the joy and benefits of singing -- both choirs have toured within their respective countries as well as across each other’s country. They have also enjoyed successful tours overseas including Canada, the United States and Europe, with the New Zealand Male Choir having also toured through Asia.

This stop in Adelaide is part of the New Zealand Male Choir’s tour to Australia, including a performance with the Sydney Male Choir on the 2nd of June.

Tickets are $30 and are available at www.mmcsa.org or at the door.
