Envirobank automated depots provide fast and easy processing of Container Deposit Scheme refunds

SYDNEY, Australia – Tuesday 5 June, 2018 – Australia’s most innovative recycling company has done it again. Envirobank Recycling launched today, on World Environment Day, its new ‘Drop n Go’ service at its Sydney and West Gosford ‘Return and Earn’ depots.

According to Narelle Anderson, founder and managing director of Envirobank, the ‘Drop n Go’ service provides business owners, kids, families, schools, sporting clubs – any member of the community with a desire to recycle – the ability to avoid long queues at ‘Return and Earn’ collection sites. People can drop off unlimited numbers of eligible containers then head back to school, work or home while Envirobank processes the materials and refunds.

‘Return and Earn’, the NSW Container Deposit Scheme, began rolling out across NSW on 1 December 2017. Drink container litter makes up 44 percent of the volume of all litter in the state and costs more than $162 million to manage. Return and Earn is the largest litter reduction scheme introduced in NSW and will help meet the NSW Premier's goal of reducing the volume of litter in the state by 40 percent by 2020.

“We are absolutely delighted to be launching our priority “Drop ‘n’ Go” service at our automated ‘Return and Earn’ depots just in time for World Environment Day. We are also offering a pickup service if you're a school, sporting group or a business,“ said Ms Anderson.

Services are available to community groups and businesses of any size, from large hospitality venues with significantly high volumes, to small businesses recycling employees’ drink containers.

“There is really no reason why every business, club or person cannot benefit from the refunds being issued within the Scheme. Since December last year nearly 380 million containers and $38 million in refunds have been processed. With a estimated 3.4 billion eligible containers in NSW alone, it's clearly a sum that can really add up!” said Ms Anderson.

Envirobank recyclers collect refunds on a secure and convenient ‘Crunch card’. Recyclers can then watch their balance grow, cash out via PayPal, donate to their favourite charity, or treat themselves to other rewards via Envirobank’s online store.

“If you visit any of our depots across the country we provide lots of ways to collect your Return and Earn refund. The choice is completely up to the customer - you can cash out onsite, donate to a charity, or use your refunds to buy grocery vouchers, white goods, clothes or airline points” Ms Anderson said.

Envirobank staff assist recyclers every step of the process, even providing safe and environmentally-friendly collection bags for container and bottle collection at home, school, sporting clubs or in the office, warehouse, restaurant or hospitality venue.

The Envirobank automated depot sites will also accept containers that are collected from roadsides and public areas that may be a little bent out of shape, provided the barcode is still visible and it can be determined an eligible container.

“Seven years ago we started on a journey with a vision to change the way Australians recycle, and now it’s actually happening. To say it’s been challenging is an understatement, but we are finally seeing real traction and the public being rewarded for the good they are doing toward protecting our environment and recycling.

“Whilst the Scheme in NSW may have been off to a rocky start, there is no denying that this legislation can deliver enormous community benefits. Our first Sydney depot is able to process huge volumes of bottles and containers, so regardless of whether you are a large business or a member of the public, Envirobank’s depot will have you sorted, recycling and earning in minutes,” said Ms. Anderson.

The Envirobank ‘Return and Earn’ automated collection Sydney depot is located at 34 Mavis St, Revesby, 2212. The Envirobank West Gosford depot located at Unit 6, 18 Nells Road, West Gosford. Opening hours are Monday-Friday 9am – 3pm and Saturdays 8am – 4pm. Envirobank also has automated collection depots in Alice Springs and Darwin with more soon to open in Queensland. In addition, Envirobank offers Mobile Collection Points at select Surf Life Saving Clubs along the NSW coast. To find out more visit www.envirobank.com.au.
