About Dr Donna Marcal:
Dr Donna Lee Marcal completed her PhD in Biochemistry while training and working as a Medical Laboratory Technologist. Her extensive research on inflammation and how the body reacts to foreign materials resulted in her being awarded 2 different international research fellowships at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
 
Her continued work on the proteomics investigated how changes in protein profiles occur and are influenced by various micro-environments that can cause inflammation in the human body. She was awarded her doctorate in 2007 and continued her advanced work at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (Brisbane, QLD). She was then further awarded a post-doctoral research fellowship to continue her work in inflammation related to Atherosclerosis at UNSW.
