Iconic Reboot - FURNITEX Finds a new home in 2019

Announcement posted by Joe Perri & Asociates 15 Jun 2018

Earlier this year the Australasian Furnishing Association (AFA) and the Australian Gift & Homewares Association (AGHA) announced the formation of a working partnership.

Both organisations are peak industry bodies representing thousands of businesses across Australia the AFA and AGHA announce the first of the major collaborations as a result of this partnership.

The AFA’s iconic trade event, Furnitex, is being rebooted to complement the very successful AGHA Gift Fair and newly launched Australasian Hospitality Expo.

Established in 1989, Furnitex has always attracted the leading local and international furniture and furnishing providers, showcasing their products to the Australian market.  2019 will see Furnitex segmented and presented as two separate exhibitions, Furnitex Home and Furnitex Commercial.

Furnitex Home will be co-located with the Sydney Gift Fair, to be held at Sydney Showground at Sydney Olympic Park from 23-26 February 2019, tapping into an established market of both storefront and online retailers looking to source furniture and furnishings that are not only innovative in design, but designed with integrity and quality in mind.

Furnitex Commercial will fulfil the needs of the commercial sector, schools, hospitality and public space outfitters, providing quality, design-led, compliant products to architects, interior designers, specifiers, venues and procurement managers. Furnitex Commercial will co-locate with the Australasian Hospitality Industry Exhibition to be held at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park from 5-7 March 2019.

AFA CEO, Ms Patrizia Torelli said the decision to co-locate the Furnitex exhibitions with the Sydney Gift Fair and the Australasian Hospitality Industry Exhibition is due to a growing market need to bring integrity back to furnishing events and align similar audiences thus capitalising on greater marketing exposure for exhibitors. There is a need to streamline the experience for visitors, and this will give visitors to both exhibitions the opportunity to see the best of the best furniture and furnishings available from Australia and overseas without compromising on quality.

We are very proud to have Furnitex co-locate alongside the Gift and Hospitality Supplier Fairs said AGHA CEO Dr Wayne Castle, and we look forward to working towards bringing back important and relevant exhibitions to the Australian market.

Furnitex Home and Furnitex Commercial will build on the synergies between both organisations and share resources to deliver high quality exhibitions that the industry and buyers are demanding with a high regard for the industry’s economic contribution to Australia.
