About the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award exhibition

The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award (JUWSPA), exhibition honours the philanthropy of Mrs Win Schubert AO (1937-2017). The Award introduced in 2002, is a touchstone of contemporary photographic practice in Australia, and an important platform for established and emerging photographers to showcase their work.

About the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Foundation for the Arts

A rare combination of business acumen and impressive cultural vision Win Schubert AO was synonymous with visual arts on the Gold Coast. Initially through Art Galleries Schubert, trading in and supporting some of Australia’s most important blue-chip and emerging artists; and later through the development of the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Foundation for the Arts.

In 2015, HOTA (formerly the Arts Centre Gold Coast) acquired the administration of a one million dollar trust fund bestowed by Mrs Schubert. This generous philanthropic support allows Gallery at HOTA to continue to host the JUWSPA, a signature prize on the Australian art calendar. Additionally, Mrs Schubert has donated art valued at more than $1.3 million dollars to the City collection; all for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.
