Prime Value Opportunities Fund receives upgraded Zenith "recommended" rating

Announcement posted by Prime Value Asset Management 28 Jun 2018

The concentrated Prime Value Opportunities Fund has received an upgrade to a “recommended” rating by Zenith Investment Partners.

In its report, Zenith said the Fund has a unique and attractive investment approach which can target opportunities across the market capitalisation spectrum.

“Prime Value’s investment approach, which combines macroeconomic insights and fundamental research, is a key point of difference for the Fund which enhances the breadth of its ideas and quality of its research.

“In addition, we draw confidence from the strategy’s long-term track record of meeting its investment objectives.”

Zenith also mentioned the Fund’s focus on capital preservation and flexibility to allocate up to 100% cash during times of market uncertainty. “Zenith believes this is consistent with the Fund’s capital preservation mandate and is an attractive feature of the Fund.

“Overall, Zenith believes the portfolio construction process ensures that the investment team’s best ideas are efficiently reflected in the Fund.”

The Prime Value Opportunities Fund is a concentrated investment vehicle led by portfolio manager ST Wong which has returned 13% per annum to investors since inception in October 2012. It’s currently available on platforms including BT Wrap, Hub24, Netwealth, Powerwrap, and Macquarie Wrap.

Boutique manager Prime Value Asset Management is part of an investment group including Shakespeare Property Group, managing more than $1.5 billion across equities, cash plus, direct property and agriculture investment.

CEO Yak Yong Quek says one of the boutique’s strengths is connecting different perspectives across the major asset classes including equities, property and fixed income. “We feel this provides us a 360-degree view, which is an advantage due to the cross-fertilisation of market insight, intelligence and ideas across different asset classes.”
