New health app puts fitness expertise in your pocket

Announcement posted by Elite Akademy 31 Jul 2018

App uses Aussie physiotherapy knowledge to improve fitness and aid weight loss

An Aussie physiotherapist group has launched a unique health and fitness app called Kinrgize, which aims to address high obesity and inactivity levels.

Kinrgize was developed by Melbourne-based physiotherapy clinic, Elite Akademy, to help people who want to improve fitness and lose weight but aren’t sure where to start.

The app allows people to track their health & fitness levels and gives them a daily ranking based on inputs including exercises performed, intensity levels and sleep. It also provides hand-picked exercises by qualified physiotherapists, including video tutorials on how to perform the exercises safely and effectively.

Kusal Goonewardena, founder of Elite Akademy, said the Kinrgize app was designed to motivate and engage people with their health and fitness. “Many people want to improve their health and fitness but don’t necessarily want to engage a personal trainer and don’t know where to start.

“Kinrgize can take you through exercises which are safe and effective, and show you how to do them properly.

“The app is ideal for people who want to lose weight, try something new or just generally build their fitness.”

Mr Goonewardena said the app will keep people accountable. “Lack of accountability is a major reason why so many people start exercise programs and then quit.

“There is a real need for fitness systems which track how you’ve done and show you how to improve.

“Most people don’t know how to measure improvement and Kinrgize changes this by tapping into a measurement system designed by health professionals.”

Kinrgize has been engaged to provide data for a PhD being conducted by Melbourne University’s Department of Medicine, researching how healthy activity can decrease non-communicable diseases, such as heart disease and diabetes, and improve cognition and mental health as we age.

Kusal says Kinrgize should appeal to a global audience. “Obesity and heart disease are huge problems worldwide. We designed Kinrgize for a global audience, which is why it’s available for free, so people can make positive steps toward health and fitness right away.”

Kinrgize is available via the iTunes App Store or Google Play
