AgQuip bringing Australian farmers face to face with the future

Announcement posted by ACM Rural Events 15 Aug 2018

Commonwealth Bank AgQuip now in its 46th year, will continue to stand strongly behind Australian farmers and the agricultural industry as it thrusts forward to its goal of becoming a $100 billion industry by 2030.  With current production running at just over $63 billion, National Farmers Federation president Fiona Simpson has called for a vision of $100 billion industry in just 12 years.

Group Manager for Fairfax Rural Events, organisers of AgQuip, Ms Kate Nugent, said that since it started in 1973, Commonwealth Bank AgQuip has played a constant role in showcasing the sweeping innovations in technology and farming techniques that have helped to drive the phenomenal success of Australian farming over the past decades. And she said, AgQuip will always continue to bring the farming industry face to face with the future.

Statistics show economically and culturally what an important part agriculture plays in the life of Australia. Farming and the industry around it, generate $63 billion per annum and supports a massive 1.6 million employees across Australia. There are over 85,000 farm businesses and they are 99% Australian owned and while they export almost 77% of what they grow, they also supply 93% of Australia's daily domestic food supply.

Severe drought has struck much of eastern Australia, but the resilience and toughness of Australian farmers is renowned.  Despite the extremely difficult conditions, determination and interest in keeping up-to-date with new developments is strong. This year, AgQuip is sold out and indications are that there will be an equally powerful response from visitors.

As AgQuip approaches its half century anniversary in August 2022, its relevance in this incredibly rapidly changing world is growing. AgQuip is probably one of the most efficient and effective, face to face means of exchanging and introducing new information, innovation and ideas to our farmers and primary industry entrepreneurs who stand on the frontline of the exciting, but sometimes uncertain, new world.

Commonwealth Bank AgQuip with its thousands of exhibits, seeded with innovation, efficiency and opportunity will continue to offer Australian farmers, accessible and highly varied avenues for developing and expanding their production from the land.

Commonwealth Bank AgQuip will be held at its purpose-built 32-hectare site eight kilometres west of Gunnedah NSW from 21 to 23 August 2018.

The event opens from 9am to 5pm on 21 and 22 August, and 9am to 4pm on 23 August – and it’s free.
