NetComm Launches Desktop IP Phone for Business Users

Announcement posted by NetComm Wireless 27 Oct 2005

Fully featured Digital IP telephone package allows easy, low-cost phone calls via the Internet for home, corporate and small business users
NetComm, a leading Australian provider of communications products and solutions, has launched the V85 Desktop IP Telephone a fully featured SIP-compliant VoIP telephone that delivers high-quality voice calls over the Internet. The V85 is designed specifically to meet the needs of the growing IP PBX market, with a growing number choosing the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) standard for their phone communications.
An IP PBX allows calls to be switched between VoIP (voice over Internet Protocol or IP) users on local lines while allowing all users to share a certain number of external phone lines. IP PBXs are the most commonly installed communications infrastructure for corporate offices.
The V85 Desktop Telephone represents a new level of sophistication for NetComms growing VoIP product range, said David Stewart, Managing Director of NetComm. It can be deployed in large numbers as a business workstation phone, offering a cost-effective alternative to other IP phones on the market. With more and more companies adopting VoIP technology, we believe that the V85 delivers a stylish, feature-packed solution in a very price competitive product
The V85 incorporates many of the key features expected in a business telephone including:
Full duplex hands free speaker phone with echo cancellation ideal for conference calling
10-number speed dial
50-number phone book
Call transfer/mute
Unique separate volume controls for microphone and speaker
Dedicated PC port that can connect both the phone and the computer to the network using only one network connection
Support for advanced call handling features such as call waiting, call hold, call forward and call transfer to an external phone
Small business and home offices can also use the V85 Desktop Phone individually or in small numbers to adopt cost-saving VoIP technology. The phone easily connects to a broadband modem router and can integrate directly with a network in an SME or SOHO environment, using a third party VoIP Server Provider.
The NetComm V85 Desktop Telephone is available now from computer resellers for $199 (including GST). Product enquiries can be made to NetComm on (02) 9424 2070 or sales@netcomm.com.au.
