Fujitsu Australia partners with RadioTel to complete its STM product line with RadioTels sub STM-1 solutions.

Announcement posted by Fujitsu Australia Limited 19 Jun 2001

Fujitsu Australia Limited has announced a distribution partnership with leading intelligent broadband wireless network solutions provider RadioTel Ltd which will give Oceania customers access to new generation sub STM-1 (up to 155Mbps) products for the first time.

Fujitsu is the first distributor of RadioTel solutions in the Oceania region. RadioTels unique SDH/SONET and IP-based wireless transmission networks will enable telecom and cellular operators in Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific island nations to cost-effectively extend their existing fibre infrastructure.

The partnership with RadioTel gives Fujitsu a complete range of STM products, according to Fujitsu Australia General Manager, Telecommunications, Brian Murphy.

RadioTel is a perfect fit for Fujitsu it complements our existing range of higher capacity SDH products by filling the gap in our product lineup for customers with capacity needs below 155 Mbps. It completes our product portfolio so that no matter what a customers capacity needs, Fujitsu has an offering for them, Mr Murphy said.

The new generation sub-STM-1 technology delivered by RadioTel is very efficient. It overcomes the limitations of older PDH technology by giving carriers greater spectrum efficiency and requires only one box to support both IP data and circuit switched voice services on the customer connection side.

The agreement gives RadioTel a presence in the Oceania market that will enable it to grow its installed base by providing its systems as an extension to Fujitsu infrastructure solutions, according to RadioTel Chief Executive Officer Rony Levy.

Because our solution is an extension from the main telecom infrastructure to customer sites via wireless or fibre, it made sense to partner with a major company like Fujitsu which is a world leader in global telecommunication systems and infrastructure, Mr Levy said.

This is a major step for RadioTel towards the utilisation of all Fujitsu channels through to market for the seamless deployment of Fujitsu infrastructure with our systems. It gives us a stepping stone into the Oceania market which offers excellent opportunities for RadioTel.

Fujitsu Australia and RadioTel will offer the solution as a standalone product or as part of a full network offering, depending on customer requirements.
