BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA (20 September, 2018) – Qlicksmart Pty Ltd today announced the appointment of UQ Doctor of Biotechnology student Chamindika Konara as General and QA Manager, effective immediately.

In her new role as General Manager, Ms Konara will advance Qlicksmart’s continual growth strategy and leading position for medical safety-engineered devices across the globe.

“During the last 20 years, Qlicksmart has revolutionized the dialogue around healthcare staff safety – we have pioneered solutions and undoubtedly have the best products in the market for scalpel blade removers and ampoule openers,” said Ms Konara.

“There is a shift in momentum in healthcare safety practices to focus on staff safety. We will be looking into optimizing how this can be translated to solutions varying from product based, knowledge based, to digital based solutions.”

Ms Konara has been working with Qlicksmart since 2015 while completing her studies in Biotechnology at the University of Queensland. She has guided the team as the QA and Operations Manager since 2016, and has been actively involved in all aspects of the business.

Previously, Ms Konara worked with Imapac, and achieved considerable qualifications in business and bioengineering, including a Bachelor of Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

Cham was uniquely qualified for the position and I have no doubt that Qlicksmart is in very safe hands. I see Qlicksmart improving its international presence and proving to Australians that we are as good as the rest of the world when it comes to innovation and impact.” said co-founder Dr. Michael Sinnott.

Ms Konara takes over the day-to-day running of the company from Dr Michael Sinnott, who will be focusing on his passion of increasing awareness of the role staff safety has on a hospital’s culture of patient safety.
