(PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Walk Brisbane

MP’s Confirm Attendance: State Member for Buderim Mr  Brent Mickelberg MP and federal member for Brisbane Mr. Trevor Evans have both confirmed they will attend the PTSD Awareness Walk.

Mr. Mickelberg has suffered post traumatic stress disorder as a result of his miliary service in Afghanistan and spoke of his struggles in his maiden speech in parliament.

When: Saturday September 22nd 2018 11am New Farm Park Brisbane, Queensland

Graeme Jarry the organiser when working as a security officer in Melbourne was  involved in an armed robbery.

He suffered Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for 10 debilitating years, with such severity that he needed a carer to manage day to day.

Graeme created the awareness walk while participating in a Landmark leadership program. Part of the coursework was to create a project to  benefit the community. Landmark is an international training and development company, best known for, The Landmark Forum  (www.landmarkworldwide.com)

(PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder effects many people in our community and doesn’t

descriminate. Many think it is restricted to the military, police and emergency services workers, but

this is not the  case. It can effect anyone after a traumatic event and sometimes doesn’t show up for

several years. “When I had the opportunity to create a project that could make a difference, this

seemed so natural for me”, Graeme said after surviving many suicide attempts, he believes he

survived for a reason. “I want to make a difference to others to show recovery and a good life is

possible.”

The Walk is open to anyone who has been impacted by (PTSD) Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which

includes sufferers, family, friends and supporters. Listen to speakers that have overcome this debilitating condition.
