Brightmail appoints Jeffry R. Allen to board of directors

Technology veteran to strengthen Brightmails leadership team
Brightmail, the global leader in anti-spam technology, today announced the appointment of Jeffry R. Allen to its Board of Directors. Allen is Executive Vice President of Business Operations at Network Appliance, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTAP), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions.
Allen has extensive experience in financial and operational leadership at a variety of enterprise-focused communications technology firms. At Network Appliance he has overseen the company's strong financial performance and rapid revenue growth. In his current role as executive vice president, Jeff manages manufacturing operations and has responsibilities for Network Appliance's product management, content delivery and NearStore business lines as well as strategic initiatives for the SAN market.

Jeffry Allen joined Network Appliance in December 1996 as its CFO, vice president of finance and operations, where he was responsible for manufacturing and distribution functions. Before joining Network Appliance, Allen served as senior vice president of operations for Bay Networks, where he was responsible for manufacturing and distribution functions. From 1990 to 1995, he held the position of controller for SynOptics Communications and became vice president and controller for Bay Networks, the new company created via the merger of SynOptics and Wellfleet Communications.
Previously, Allen had a 17-year career at Hewlett-Packard Company, where he served in a variety of positions, including controller for the Information Networks Group. He holds a bachelor's degree from San Diego State University.
