Renowned photographer and Berghain legend returns to Australia

Sven Marquardt to appear at the Goethe-Institut in Sydney in October

The Goethe-Institut is pleased to announce the return of Berlin photographer and Berghain bouncer Sven Marquardt to Australia in September and October. During his visit, Sven will reside at the Goethe-Institut in Sydney to develop new work and deliver an artist talk on 22nd October for his growing legion of Australian fans. 

After visiting our shores back in 2016 as part of the Head On Festival in Sydney, Sven has been eager to return to Australia ever since. 

“I enjoyed my last visit to Australia immensely and when the Goethe-Institut invited me back to work on a new project, I jumped at the chance. Australia has always fascinated me and I am looking forward to immersing myself in its unique culture for my new photography series” he said.

Open call for surfers

For his latest project, Sven is looking for interesting characters and unusual surf spots in or near Sydney as subjects. If you are over 18 and this description fits you, please email sydney.pack18@gmail.com with “Marquardt Surf” in the subject header, and attach 1-3 photos of yourself. No payment is involved. 

Artist talk

During his talk at the Goethe-Institut, Sven Marquardt will discuss his interesting life and photography projects. As an artist who is as closely connected to Berlin’s gritty techno scene as he is to fashion designers such as Hugo Boss, this is an event for photography enthusiasts, techno fans and fashion lovers alike. 

With capacity strictly limited, don’t miss your chance to meet the renowned artist and media personality during his only public appearance in Australia in 2018.
